Are your expectations being met?

Do you know what to expect?

Have you been told the only thing you can do is rest?

Have you been everywhere only to be passed off to the next doctor?

Most of the people that have been referred to us for help with their health have been everywhere and done everything and are STILL having health problems!

By the time they get to us, some people are so caught up in the medical care whirlwind of drugs for symptoms that they never stop to consider… treating the root cause of their problem.

What would you rather? Masking a problem with a temporary solution? Or UNDERSTANDING the root cause of a problem to eliminate it from happening altogether?

As a chiropractor, my primary interest is in uncovering the causes of poor health and to teach the patients how to overcome that cause.

I would like to set my patients up with proper expectations that come along with treatment.

What to Expect

  • Expect that rest is only the first recommendation, and not considered treatment. This is because I haven’t done anything yet.
  • Expect a thorough history and hands on examination to determine the cause of the problem. This is where the magic happens! I need to see what story your body has to tell.
  • Expect to divulge information overlooked by other doctors, like how you hold your head when driving, on the computer at work, or talking or your cell phone?
  • Expect good explanations. Dr. Turner can draw anything… just ask.
  • Expect those observations of your body movement such as, how you sit; walk, and squat, or even chew can tell me valuable information about how you function.
  • Expect that there will be difficult habits to break. The most common habit I see is a lack drinking water on a daily basis. Second most common habit is sleeping on one’s stomach.
  • Expect to commit to achieving your goals. If I had a magic wand to make all your pain go away, I would! The process of attaining your goals can be time-consuming. As a team, you will learn exactly what is needed to succeed.
  • Expect to take part in the treatment process. I encourage you to ask questions! I want you to log your progress. You need to do your homework I give you on a consistent basis.
  • Expect that you will be provided with all the tools needed to overcome your health issue.
  • Expect that there will be no finish line. The pursuit of health and the absence of pain is constant!
  • Expect to have ups and downs. The road to recovery is never straight and is often littered with distractions. Stay the course and symptom-free is just around the corner.
  • Expect that everyone is different. Therefore, everyone will respond to treatment in a different fashion.
  • Expect that some people respond to a few treatments, and others may take much longer.
  • Expect to feel healthy again!

How long does it take?

There is a naturally occurring process in the body called Apoptosis, which is internally programmed cell death. This means that cells have a pre-programmed length of time that they live before they are replaced. This is a very important point to understand in establishing a treatment program.

The lifespan of the cells of the body

White blood cells – hours to a few weeks

Red blood cells – 120 days

Muscles: Cardiac -longtime, Smooth -days,

Skeletal – 15 years

Bones (osteoblasts)– 3 months

Peripheral nerves – 1-5mm/day*

The initial treatment program is designed to correct the position of the plates of the skull and joints in the spine. This can take time. Most patients choose to undergo a few months of intensive treatments for quicker results. During this time the original symptoms may subside or disappear. However, the treatment program must reflect the time required to regenerate new cells.

The reality is that everyone responds in their own time.
